Digital Security: Social Media

We’ve talked about digital security before, but mostly pertaining to online searches.  Today, I want you to think about social media security.

social-media

Check this out:

~gulp~

Makes you think about what you’re putting out in the social-mediaspere, right?

For those of us who produce a site, social media is an invaluable tool.  That which is on our site, gets funneled into social media.  All. Of. It!

I’m always aware of this fact when it comes to sharing family pics or names.  On the other hand, my personal pages are more open, but with a much smaller reach and essentially a closed-group.  I have no compunction sharing my life there, goofiness and all.  The German (my mother) has said more times than she’d like: Patti!  Have you no shame?!

Yeah, not so much.

For those who read here that don’t have a business or a fan page or reason to over-share on social media, are you aware how easily your information can be used?

Does it matter to you?

Does it matter for your children?

Do you feel since so many are doing it, it’s a non-issue?

I’m curious if this issue concerns you or if you feel it’s part of the culture we live in today and there’s no stuffing the genie, head-first, back into the bottle.

Weigh in.
